System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr), formerly Systems Management Server (SMS), is a systems management software product by Microsoft for managing large groups of Windows-based computer systems. Configuration Manager provides remote control, patch management, software distribution, operating system deployment, and hardware and software inventory. As companies strive to make their operations more efficient, they are striving to find ways to optimize their administrative overhead. Configuration Manager 2007 has proven methodologies and functionality that reduces the total cost of administrative overhead as well as total cost of ownership for operating systems and applications.
